Studying in Cologne

Those who study in Cologne are not alone. With almost 100,000 students, Cologne is one of the largest college towns in Germany. To name a few, the University of Cologne; the TH Cologne; the Sporthochschule and, certainly not least of all, CBS International Business School – these make Cologne an attractive place to study. With numerous leisure activities for students like College Sports of Cologne as well as free monthly visits to the copious Cologne museums, the free-time possibilities are almost infinite. And if you’re looking for action at a late hour, Cologne’s nightlife will certainly not be disappointing. Whether in bars or clubs, at large student parties or in a small group: in Cologne, no one has to go to bed early…

Studying in Mainz

Cosmopolitan cordialness in an economic center
The Romans, Johannes Gutenberg, the Rosenmontag parade (carnival), ZDF (local TV station): Mainz has many faces. This is also evident in the various parts of the city. There is, for example, the multicultural and student-dominated Neustadt with its many small squares, where ice-cream or boules is played in the summer. Those who like wine and nature feel at home in the traditional wine-growing villages like Laubenheim. There is the cozy historic downtown of Mainz, at the foot of which the CBS International Business School found its new home in 2012.

Study in Potsdam

Potsdam is much more than just a suburb of Berlin: Potsdam is the capital of Brandenburg and one of the major academic centres in Europe. As a de facto island, the recreational value is particularly high, as you are never far from a lakeside, a bathing beach or a beautiful park.

MAINZ:

Mainz is home to several universities and enjoys great popularity as a vibrant student city. More than 40,000 students live in Mainz, centrally located in the Rhine-Main area, and equally appreciate the range of the urban environment and tranquility of the Rhine-Hessian surroundings.

The demand for shared flats, apartments and rooms in dormitories is correspondingly high and the search for housing may take a little longer. In order for you to find your new home in Mainz as quickly and easily as possible and feel completely at ease, we have compiled some helpful tips for your housing search.

Развитие карьеры студентов

Those who take up a practice-oriented study at a renowned business school like CBS usually do so for a good reason: to facilitate their career. If you look at the career paths of successful people, being lucky and the fortunate coinciding of random events will certainly come into play for some. But experience shows that planning is the key to success. We support you along the way – on the one hand through the contents of the courses but also outside the lectures. A prime example of this is the Career Services department at CBS International Business School.
Our colleagues support you in coming up with career ideas and then steering your career in the right direction – right from the start. To this end, we network with companies and have a CBS-exclusive internship and job vacancies exchange.

Expansive network

The CBS Career Services has been operating successfully for many years in order to expand the network of partner companies. Career Services staff meet with company representatives and advise them about the advantages that a cooperation with CBS could have for them. Several companies appreciate access to the excellently trained and motivated CBS students and provide internships and job offers. This means you have the opportunity to apply to companies that are specifically targeting CBS students.

Assistance in securing internships

Whether bachelor or master, English-language or German-language, most of the CBS study programmes include a compulsory internship, so you can put your freshly acquired knowledge to practice while contemporaneously becoming familiar with the daily grind at an interesting company. Career Services advises you on which internships, companies and departments at home or abroad best match your qualifications and career goals as well as when and how you should apply, which of course, you will have to do for yourself. After all, when it comes to presenting yourself, the best person for the job is you.

Choosing the right job

Because it’s their day-to-day work, our Career Services knows the job market for future specialists and managers at home and abroad and uses its network to secure job offers. We assist you in viewing and evaluating offers and optimizing your application documents. And we also have plenty of good tips when it comes to preparing for job interviews.

Career Events

We regularly invite experts from the business world to present their companies and tell their own success stories. First-hand. How often do you get the opportunity to meet a respected founder personality anyway? Career Events are there for you to broaden your horizons, get ideas for your own future and perhaps even find inspiration for a thesis.

Design your career

Why just attend networking and recruiting events when you can be the one organizing them? Our career event, University2Business (U2B) is organized by the students themselves. After being recruited, companies then present themselves to students, for example at a speed lunch; a workshop; a presentation and, of course, a small in-house trade fair. In addition, there are top-class guest speakers. Your commitment can become a real door opener, since you will be dealing with several responsible representatives from many HR departments – in person and not just via email application.

Choosing a university is a decision that sets the course for life. CBS International Business School, one of the best private universities of applied science in Germany, puts this at the heart of its business, reflected in the slogan “Creating tomorrow”. Approximately 1,900 young people from about 75 nations are studying at CBS International Business School, embedded in a large network of partnerships with around 120 universities all over the world and numerous large companies.

CBS was founded in 1993 as a pure business school and is characterised by a wide range of English-language study programmes. It was amongst the first universities in Germany to offer the internationally recognized Bachelor’s degree.

Today the portfolio comprises English and German-language Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes with a focus on management as well as MBA programmes. The excellent study conditions are based on small learning groups and intensive supervision by the professors and lecturers.

The task of CBS is to prepare students for career opportunities in business. That is why both the current state of research and strong practical relevance are vital parts of the courses. This is complemented with application-related knowledge, business games, internships, soft skills courses and business projects, which usually take place in cooperation with well-known companies. Students can also opt for working with conCBS, the CBS International Business School management consultancy with student participation. Thanks to the CBS’s extensive business community network and regular career events on campus, students also have the regular opportunity to talk to company representatives.

Those who prefer to get deeper into research can actively participate in research projects and have the chance to publish results. Eight internationally networked, interdisciplinary research clusters at CBS are available for this purpose. Obtaining a doctorate is also possible.

Академическая специализация

A degree is only valuable if it is widely recognised. We take care of that in several ways. Firstly, through state accreditation: CBS International Business School is a private university, state-recognised by the Wissenschaftsrat (German Science Council) and the North Rhine-Westphalian Ministry of Science. Secondly, through the regular accreditation of all study programmes by the FIBAA (Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation) on behalf of the German Accreditation Council. Thirdly, by successfully participating in rankings such as the renowned CHE ranking (known from the study guide of the ZEIT, the leading German weekly newspaper) or the university ranking from Wirtschaftswoche, one of Germany’s best business magazines.
